1-TO-1 THERAPY
in-house 1-to-1 therapy delivered by qualified practitioners
Tonic Music offers in-house psychotherapy and counselling, delivered by a team of qualified practitioners with significant experience working in the music industry. We understand that working in music can bring unique challenges, and we are here to help you get the support you need.
This support is available to anyone working in the music industry, including musicians, producers, crew members, managers, agents, promoters, venue operators, festival organisers and others working across the sector.
We offer a range of referral pathways, eligibility for funding is dependent upon meeting the criteria set by our referral partners.
Our 1-to-1 therapy takes place online, with weekly 50-minute sessions typically over a period of either 6 or 12 weeks.

Modalities AVAILABLE
EMDR - This approach resolves symptoms resulting from disturbing and traumatic life experiences. A therapist will tap into this high-speed processing mode that we all have, helping the brain to process the unresolved memories and make them less distressing.
Humanistic - This approach focuses on the individual as a whole, by encouraging people to think about their feelings and take responsibility for their thoughts and actions. A therapist will emphasise self-development and achieving the highest potential rather than on problematic behaviour.
Integrative - This approach looks at the whole person, taking into account mental, physical and emotional needs. A therapist aims to build a trusting and non-judgmental relationship that helps develop self-awareness, through using techniques and tools from different modalities.
Psychodynamic - This approach focuses on the unconscious mind and how early experiences and childhood relationships may be influencing current feelings, behaviours and relationships. The client-therapist relationship is central to the work, helping you to recognise and understand how past experiences and unconscious patterns shape the way you relate to others.
Tonic Music is not a crisis service. Please contact NHS 111 for urgent help.

Consultation Appointment
The assessment is an opportunity for us to learn more about you and your circumstances, and to identify the areas in which you would like support. We will talk through your needs, identify any potential risks or concerns, and explore any additional support that might be helpful. This is to help ensure that taking part in therapy is a safe, appropriate and positive experience for you. Our funding partners each have their own eligibility criteria, which includes factors such as income, savings and how long you have worked in music. We will explain the relevant criteria during your consultation so you can understand the options available to you.
Following the appointment, your assessment will be reviewed by the clinical team, who will determine the most appropriate type of therapy for your individual needs and circumstances.
Please note that, in some circumstances, the clinical team may identify needs that fall outside the scope of the services Tonic Music currently provide, or determine that another service would be better placed to meet your needs. In such cases, we may be unable to offer therapy at this time. You would be informed of this decision and advised on the most appropriate next steps to help you access the support you need.
We know that taking the first step towards accessing support can sometimes feel daunting. Our team is here to guide you through the process and help you understand the next steps.
Our Music Fan Programme is avalable for anyone who is aged 18 or over who is a UK resident.
Once you have registered with us, you will be invited to an online consultation, which allows you to ask any questions you may have and for us to have a conversation about the types of support available.
