The Specials signed drum skin

Tonic Music for Mental Health are delighted to announce the raffle of a signed drum skin, which has been kindly donated by The Specials from their 2019 tour.

Each £5 donation will entitle you to one virtual raffle ticket, giving you a chance to win ‘The Specials used drum skin’, a 37cm Remo Ambassador Coated drumhead (made in the USA).

The 8 authentic signatures on the drum skin are: Terry Hall, Lynval Golding, Horace Panter, Kenrick Rowe, Steve Cradock, Nikolaj Torp Larsen, Tim Smart and Pablo Mendelssohn. Terry Hall is a Tonic patron and Lynval Golding a Tonic ambassador.

2019 was a memorable and busy year for The Specials (and Tonic!) with the release of their first album of new material in 38 years – Encore – which reached number one in the UK Album Charts.

An intimate gig took place at the 100 Club in London to mark the release of their new album. The proceeds from this gig were generously donated by The Specials to Tonic, and from this amazing gesture the Tonic Ska Choir was formed.

The Specials went on to complete a 65 date tour across Europe, the USA & Canada. This included four sell out nights at Coventry Cathedral in a truly beautiful and iconic setting.

Tonic were fortunate enough to be able to attend many of the UK dates. We hosted a Tonic stand so gig-goers could find out about the valuable services we provide.

It is from the Liverpool gig of this tour that The Specials kindly donated the drum skin being raffled for our new initiative – the Tonic Rider.

The Tonic Rider programme supports live music venues across the UK by raising awareness of suicide and mental health issues within the music industry.

The programme is designed for artists, roadies, managers, promoters, sound crews, production crews and everyone in between. Tonic's aim is to target green rooms and venues across the UK, and to include the Tonic Rider on all rider lists and wall posters.

The Tonic Rider provides information on coping strategies, anxiety, depression, performance anxiety and post-show blues, along with signposting to services that can help in a crisis.

By supporting the Tonic Rider programme, you will be joining us on our mission to raise mental health awareness, challenge stigma and promote mental wellbeing through music and the arts.
